Eleanor Dare, Sports Editor

The #1 New York Times bestseller, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, is set in modern times during which a simple high school senior is set as the main character. Pippa Fitz-Amobi is doing her senior project on the murder of the town’s sweetheart Andie Bell who was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh. This picture-perfect couple had stolen the town’s heart until Andie went missing and never showed up. Pip wants to get the basics on the murder but ends up discovering more. She has ideas to cast doubt upon the closed case, but she discovers more secrets that might lead to Sal being innocent. However, someone continues to threaten Pip and does not want her to discover what actually happened. Even so, she continues to dig, potentially putting her life in danger.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is an adrenaline-rushing, stomach-turning, all around exciting novel. This mystery is nail-biting and blood rushing. There is not a dull moment in this book, and it is almost impossible to put down. The book shows an unlikely friendship, family trauma, and how two different people can come together to change a whole town. Pip works hard to uncover the secrets in her small town and bring a little closure to it.

The book is written by Holly Jackson, who began writing when she was fifteen. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder was her best-selling book. It was nominated for the 2020 Nibbies Children’s Fiction Book of the Year Award. She has also written Good Girl, Bad Blood, and As Good As Dead, which are sequels to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. Jackson loves true crime documentaries, which helped her get ideas to write this book series.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is an entrancing novel that will suck the reader in and is almost impossible to put down. This book should be recommended to any teen or adult who is interested in true crime, mystery, murder, small town life, or anything in between.
