Senior year is arguably one of the most anticipated aspects of high school and one of the most significant milestones to reach in all four years of high school. As the third nine weeks comes to an end, the finish line is in sight for the class of 2023.

Senior Miles Williams plays soccer during the final nine weeks.

“The final stretch of every school year always includes soccer for me, but this year it is a little different. Being a senior means that this is the last time I will be playing with all my teammates, so the season starting is bittersweet,” said Williams.

For most seniors, the last few months of high school are very stressful because of college decisions.

Senior Landon Joines has applied to a few colleges..

“For some reason, making a decision that could affect the rest of my life is proving to be stressful. Picking the school where I will further my education has been one of the hardest decisions of my life,” said Joines.

Prom is one of the markers for the end of the year for seniors. This year prom will be held on April 22. It is the last school dance they attend in high school. Prom is put on by the junior class so seniors do not have to stress over it.

The finale of senior year is graduation on May 25. Most high schoolers look forward to graduation the second they step into the halls. For some, graduation will be the last time they see some of their friends and classmates, so it is a sad time.

“Graduation has been on my mind ever since I was a freshman. In a way graduation is the end of our childhood, and the beginning of our adult lives,” said Joines.

Even though we are in February, seniors have crossed the mountain of the year, and are on their way down.
