With all of the types of sports drinks newly sold, there is one question that remains in the air: which one is the best? Students were asked to choose between Prime, Gatorade, Body Armor, Powerade, Bio Steel, Vitamin Water, and Pedialyte to determine which is the crowd favorite.

Sophomore Emily Porterfield plays soccer for Rockbridge, and picked Gatorade as her energy drink of choice.

“It doesn’t make my stomach hurt when I sub out for soccer, and that’s important in soccer when I’m running up and down the field,” said Porterfield.

Following Gatorade is Body Armor, the second most preferred drink. Body Armor offers flavors from strawberry banana to blackout berry. Body Armor came in second place as .

Sophomore Haylie Hite is a fan of Body Armor.

“The nutrients in the juices used are healthy and provide me with great and healthy energy,” said Hite.

In third place after Body Armor was Vitamin Water. This drink offers several flavors ranging from passionfruit to blueberry. Vitamin Water was in third place with 9%.

Sophomore Brooklyn Kerr enjoys Vitamin Water as a sports drink.

“It’s refreshing, not dry tasting and it’s healthy for you,” said Kerr.

The original drink that began the reign of sports drinks, Gatorade, has been crowned number one best sports drink by the students of Rockbridge. However, it is the most expensive of the top three but still is deemed the best because of the flavors and good feeling it brings. Gatorade also has supplements that bring very well hydration and hydrate athletes better than water.
