‘Cats Take Victory Against Nelson Co.

The boys’ basketball team defeated Nelson Co. with a final score of 43-31 on Dec. 4. The game started off with six straight points from senior Harrison Hundley. The ‘Cats stayed ahead of the Governors, ending the first quarter with a score of 13-8.

The second quarter continued with junior Jalik Lynch scoring a three-pointer and a shot by sophomore Elijah Rogers, to end the quarter with a close score of 21-20.

The third quarter started with a score by junior Jaeden Riddick and continued with a layup by Rogers. But during the third quarter the ‘Cats game weakened, leaving the third quarter trailing 32-25.

The fourth quarter began with a three-pointer by junior Chris Littlefield, followed by senior Caleb Walker, Lynch, and junior Alex Balisteri. In the final seconds of the fourth quarter, junior Ben Balisteri scored two foul shots, ending the fourth quarter in a tie with a score of 37-37.

The game went into overtime with shots by Walker, Lynch, and Ben Balisteri, giving the ‘Cats a narrow win with a final score of 43-41. The current record for the season is 3-1.
