Gardner Adjusts To Life In Rockbridge

Byron Winchester, Business Manager

A veteran teacher of ten years, Ginny Gardner has recently joined RCHS staff as a CP Geometry and AP Statistics teacher.

“I am a career switcher… I had many education courses in college but did not pursue a license or education degree. Years later, a friend was volunteering in a classroom and invited me along. After a few months, I returned to school for my masters degree and license,” said Gardner.

Gardner is a traveller and has lived in many states in the eastern part of the United States

“I am originally from Chicago, but spent 17 years in Ohio. I have also lived in Michigan and New Jersey. I have been in Virginia for five years, and in Clifton Forge,” said Gardner.

“I love the culture. It is very academically oriented, but still relaxed,” said Gardner

When she is not teaching, Gardner enjoys restoring an old house.

“My husband and I are restoring a 120 year-old house, which takes lots of time,” said Gardner. “I also do a lot of canning during the summer, and reading whenever I get the chance.”
