Prom season is quickly approaching and the hunt for the perfect prom dress has begun. Prom will be held Sat., April 20 at Evans Hall. There are many different colors and styles of prom dresses. In previous years, there seems to be a style of dress that sets a trend. Students were asked about their thought process behind their prom dress. 

Senior Katherine Lotts describes her senior prom dress.

“My dress is fitted and it has blue/teal iridescent sequins and an open back. I picked my dress because I thought it looked like a fun dress on the rack and then I tried it on and I fell in love with it,” said Lotts. 

Every prom dress is different. Lotts continues by saying what makes it unique. 

“One thing I like most about it is that it is different from any prom dress I have had, I have never had a full sequin dress before,” said Lotts.

 Senior Emma Woody shares what her prom dress looks like.

“My prom dress for this year is red with sparkles all down the dress. I picked this dress because it was simple but still stands out. My favorite part about my dress is the color and how it fits,” said Woody.

Junior Madelyn Jones gives a detailed description of her dress.

“My prom dress is a tied corset top, blue ballgown-style dress with ruffled layers and spaghetti straps,” said Jones. 

The process of picking the right prom dress can be difficult. Jones shares her thought process behind her choice.

“I picked my prom dress because it was the first one I had tried on, and I had instantly loved it, and knew I had to stick with it. It’s also really comfortable and leaves a lot of creativity for the jewelry and accessories I pick,” said Jones.

Jones continues by saying why she likes her dress. 

“What I like most is how “princess-esk” it looks, and how it flows when I spin. also the shade of blue is really pretty,” said Jones.

Prom trends evolve year after year, and this year there will be no different. It is expected to see a variety of different styles, each reflecting one’s personality.
