Sabrina Carpenter has been receiving a lot of positive feedback on her new album, “Short n’ Sweet.” The album was released Aug. 23. Hence the title, it has 12 songs and is only 34 minutes long.
According to The Reflector, “She has gone from 36.3 million monthly listeners as of April 12 to 84.6 million monthly listeners by Sept. 10”. This increase began when she released “Espresso” in April, and only continued to grow when she released “Please Please Please” in June.
This increase was also due to “Short n’ Sweet” being released as well. According to Spotify, millions of people have been enjoying listening to the upbeat new style of songs that she has been releasing. This album was a pretty big change from “Emails I Can’t Send.” She has matured a lot more with her songwriting, and it has really shown in this new album.
According to students, her songwriting and the feel of her new songs is similar to those by Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande, and Meghan Moroney. The album shows a lot of variety and experimenting.
Freshman Sarah Edgar had very positive feedback on the album.
“It’s versatile! There’s a mix of slow and fast music, happy and sad music. It’s just a good combination of different styles in one cohesive album,” said Edgar.
Some of her songs have included a more country feel, and this has been a hit with many people.
While there are many good opinions, there are also a few people who haven’t resonated with the album as much.
Junior Destiny Camden was not a fan of the album “Short n’ Sweet”.
“Listening to Sabrina Carpenter is like eating unseasoned chicken or that noise your dog makes licking itself in the middle of the night,” said Camden.
As much popularity this album has been getting, lots of people have still not heard of or listened to this album. There are many fans, but some people just haven’t really gone out of their way to listen.
As she begins her “Short n’ Sweet” tour, Carpenter will continue to keep promoting her album to many different places. For local fans, she will be visiting about an hour away in Charlottesville. She has already achieved platinum on her new album, so the possibilities are endless.
