Located just outside of downtown Lexington is Taqueria Jalisco, which serves authentic Mexican food. We went here in search of the best tacos and Mexican dishes that we could find. The restaurant itself has a relatively small dining room with comfortable seating. The menu had a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Presley and Quincy chose birra tacos, while Dean ordered beef fonda and rice.
The birra tacos came with four tacos on the tray, and came with a side of consomme, the liquid the meat is cooked in with additions, for dipping. The four tacos cost $10.99. The tacos themselves were already flavorful, but the consomme elevated the taste. This dish is definitely big enough to share between 2 people, as it is a very filling meal for one. we would order these tacos again.
The steak that came in Dean’s order of beef fonda was cooked to perfection and the rice was an excellent complementary dish. The fonda cost $8.99 (which is great given the serving size). The food came out somewhat hot but cooled off relatively fast. The steak had good spice and so did the rice, this dish could have gone very well with a coke or a lemonade but Dean ordered water.
In conclusion, this restaurant is one of the better Mexican ones in Lexington. It has lots of excellent taco options and other authentic Mexican options at great prices. Everything that the group ordered was amazing and would definitely be ordered again. In comparison to the other Mexican restaurants that we have reviewed, this is ranked better than Chipotle but not better than Don Tequilas because Don Tequilas gave us free chips and salsa.
