As the weather starts changing, so do students’ wardrobes. When the temperature starts to drop, students start bundling up to stay warm. Layering becomes key, with scarves, hats, and gloves making an appearance. Students not only look for warmth but also style. Pinterest, TikTok, and other social media apps help students find cold-weather outfit inspiration.
Over the past couple of years, vests have really started to make a comeback. From puffers to quilted vests, there is an option for every style, occasion, and temperature. There are so many puffer vests on the market for all price ranges.
Some popular places to purchase them include Free People, American Eagle, and Amazon. More local places include Lex Running Shop and Walkabout Outfitters. Vests provide warmth while also being ideal for layering. They can go with many different styles and outfits, making them ideal for students.
Sophomore Julieanne Woodward prioritizes warmth during these chilly days by wearing a vest.
“I love that vests keep me from getting too warm like a big puffer jacket would. I also love how they pair with sweaters and hoodies to make cute winter outfits. I have a couple of vests, and my black puffer one is my favorite because it matches everything,” said Woodward.
Another winter staple making a comeback this year is scarves. The viral TikTok hack of making your scarf into a hood has stormed the internet, and scarves have made a big comeback-Specifically, oversized fleece scarves. These elaborate scarves can be found at stores such as Anthropologie, Aerie, and Alo Yoga.
Freshman June Wilson is all for the trend; “I like the look and functionality of scarves because they keep my neck and face warm. I have also seen them all over my Pinterest feed, and they are just so cute.”
In conclusion, the change of temperature also brings a change of wardrobe. Students looking for accessories to help stay warm should look for warm vests and scarves. Not only do they keep you warm, but they are also highly fashionable.
