Valentine’s day is a day to appreciate and show our love for the loved ones in our lives. Some people like to make gifts, eat food, and have parties, while others like to celebrate by simply cozying down and watching romance movies.
Here are the top 5 best romance movies to watch this Valentine’s Day.
- The Fault in Our Stars
The Fault in Our Stars is about a girl named Hazel Grace who has cancer. Hazel falls in love with Gus Waters, a boy she meets at her Cancer support group, who also has cancer. The movie exemplifies how two people can fall in love with each other despite their pain, struggles, and differences. This movie is also an adaptation of the book made by John Green. Though this movie is sad, it truly shows how a little love and support can change someone’s life for the better. This is a great watch to get in spirit for Valentine’s day, though it may end in tears.
- Flipped
Flipped features a romance between a girl named Juli Baker and a boy named Bryce Loski. The movie shows how feelings can change for someone over time. In the beginning of the movie, when both children were only 7 years old, Juli had a huge crush on Bryce, but the feelings faded because Bryce never felt the same. As time passes, Bryce falls for Juli. This movie is so underrated and I never hear anyone talk about it. I, however, thought it was a really sweet and wholesome love story.
- 10 Things I Hate About You
10 Things I Hate About You is one of my favorite high school romance movies of all time. In this movie, Patrick Verona, the main character, is paid to date Kat Stratford whom others describe as “scary” and “mean.” Little did they know, both Patrick and Kat would fall for each other. My favorite part is Kat’s infamous monologue at the end of the movie where she confesses her love for Patrick. This movie is a classic and I totally recommend it to anyone who’s interested in romance movies. It is a great watch for Valentine’s day.
- The Notebook
The Notebook is a heartfelt romance movie that was adapted from the book written by Nicholas Sparks. It is a love story between Allie Hamilton, a rich, young woman, and Noah Calhouna, a poor young man. Despite their various differences, they share a really strong connection. However, their love is forbidden as Allie’s parents don’t approve of Noah. No matter how much time, how many difficulties, or how many obstacles the two encounter, they always find a way back to one another. It shows that true love is worth fighting for.
- To All the Boys I Loved Before
To All the Boys I Loved Before is a classic romance movie that I love to watch when Valentine’s day comes around. It is about Lara Jean, a high school girl, who wrote love letters to all the boys she had feelings for in the past. One day, her letters are mysteriously sent to those boys. However, surprisingly, love sparks between Lara Jean and one of the boys she wrote a letter to, Peter Kavingsky. This movie is based on the book To All the Boys I Loved Before by Jenny Han. I would definitely recommend this light and amusing movie, as it is always a fun watch and it is perfect for Valentine’s day. It also has two other movies in the franchise.
Watching romance movies is the perfect way to get in the spirit for Valentine’s day, and I totally recommend these five.
