Season two of “XO, Kitty,” a spin-off drama to the famous movie trilogy of “To All the Boys I Loved Before,” was aired on January 16, 2025. The new season arrived with 10 episodes on Netflix.
Season one ended with Kitty being torn between her breakup with Dae and her feelings for Yuri. Not only this, but it also left off on a big cliffhanger of Minho confessing his love to Kitty. Fans had to wait two years for the new season to arrive, as the first season was released in 2023.
Season two begins with Kitty arriving at KISS once again for her second semester. With a new mindset and a fresh start, Kitty is inclined on focusing on her academics and learning more about her deceased mother. However, the show instead highlights her relationships and the drama intertwined in her friend group.
The new season portrayed the ideals of navigating heartache and discovering oneself. It also accentuated Kitty’s family dynamics. I loved how Kitty was able to find out more about her relatives and connect with her family, which was something we didn’t see much of in season one.
My favorite part of this season was watching Kitty and Minho’s relationship and friendship build and thrive. Minho had to be my favorite character because of the way he was always there for Kitty, and I’m hoping that they end up together in season three.
Personally, I enjoyed the second season more than the first. The overall visuals of the scenes were much more refined and of superior quality. It also seemed that the acting had improved, as every emotion felt more real and authentic. The first season was a bit immature with the way the characters acted and their childish dialogue, but I think they grew a lot in season two and became considerably more mature, which made the show much more enjoyable to watch.
Additionally, there were new characters added to the story in this season, such as Stella (Audrey Huynh), Praveena (Sasha Bhasin), and Jin (Joshua Lee). These characters emphasized twists and drama to the plot. We also got to see Peter Kavingsy (Noah Centineo) from “To All the Boys I Loved Before” return and interact with Kitty. It was nice to see him back, as the two have a really strong friendship.
Overall, I enjoyed watching the characters learn more about themselves and grow throughout the second season. It was amazing to see every relationship and friendship change and develop. I am excited to see how the rest of the story will unfold, especially considering the fact that Netflix has renewed the show for a third season. Go watch season two of “XO, Kitty” on Netflix, out now.
