Heliotrope Brewery is a brewery and restaurant located on Main Street in Lexington VA. They serve many different kinds of pizzas, flat bread, and hummus. The main attraction, their pizzas, come in a wide and unique variety of flavors and toppings. This feature makes all of their pizzas very fun and interesting to try. We decided to find our favorite pizzas there.
Dean got the Margherita pizza, which comes with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and fresh basil leaves on a sourdough crust. The pizza had a good char from the heat of the wood-fire pizza oven. The pizza is very floppy and light, which makes for an interesting texture, unlike any other pizza place in Lexington. The flavor was savory with an atomic finish provided by the basil leaves. My favorite part was the way the mozzarella and the tomato sauce blended together to make an excellent pizza. Dean rated it a pleasant 9.5/10.
The pizza that Quincy ordered was called the Tasso. The pizza was spicy pizza with a very little amount of cheese. The spicyness came from the Louisiana tasso ham and crushed red pepper flakes. The pizza was topped with a good amount of parmesan and brown sugar for a good sweet and salty flavor. A great part of the pizza was the firm crust from the woodfire pizza oven. Quincy’s favorite part of the pizza was the large chunks of louisiana tasso ham, it had a great texture and added a perfect amount of spice. Quincy rated his pizza a 9/10.
Overall, Quincy and Dean both enjoyed their orders from Heliotrope. Dean was a fan of the more simple order you can get at heliotrope, while Quincy liked the wild and unique pizza. With an average score of 9.25/10, they would definitely recommend you try either one of these pizzas. To find out more, or view other pizzas offered, check it out on 128 S Main St.
