Every summer people online debate which song is the ‘song of the summer’ for that year. This song encapsulates the vibes of that summer, and is associated with summer memories.

To settle the debate and see the student body’s answer for the ‘song of the summer’, students answered a poll with their thoughts.

The student’s top choice for ‘song of the summer’ was “back to friends” by sombr, with 23.3 percent of students choosing this song. This song reached number one on the Global Daily Chart and US Spotify Daily Chart.
Sophomore Natasha Shorter explains why she chose “back to friends” as the ‘song of the summer’.

“I chose “back to friends” as the ‘song of the summer’ because I like the song and I like listening to sombr,” Shorter said.
The second place song was “Mystical Magical” by Benson Boone, with 17.4 percent of students choosing this song. This song has 1.74 billion streams, and it became Boone’s fourth song to be in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Junior Pat Looney explains why “Mystical Magical” is the ‘song of the summer’.
“I tried the ‘Mystical Magical’ Crumbl Cookie this summer, and it inspired me to choose this song. It was also the only song from the list that I had listened to,” Looney said.
