Retaining a rating of 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, the new R rated movie, “Weapons” made quite a commotion in the movie scene.
“Weapons” dropped on Aug. 8 and stunned audiences everywhere. The film was directed, written, and produced by Zach Cregger. The movie is a mysterious horror movie, and if you are not a fan of gore, you should not watch this movie!
The movie takes place in a small town and recalls the events right after 17 children from the same class disappear at the exact same time in the middle of the night. At the beginning , the town is in shambles due to this incident, and blame is thrown around to the only boy from the elementary class who did not disappear. The teacher of that class, Justine Gandy, is played by Julia Garner.
The cast consists of seven main characters, and some of the main ones include Amy Madigan, who plays the villain, Gladys and Josh Brolin, who plays Archer, the father of one of the children who disappeared.
The movie is in six parts, each one from a different perspective recalling the sam

e events. This concept is called an ‘onion peel narrative,’ meaning as each perspective is told, more information is revealed.
The movie is extremely high quality and everything looks very realistic, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on if blood and gore freak you out. Going into the theater, I was not sure what to expect, but I came out of the movie scared to my satisfaction.
The movie consists of many jump scares, but they are impossible to look away from because the plot gets thicker and thicker with every scene. Throughout the movie, I kept getting surprised by which roles each character had in the disappearance of the children.
The answer of the mysterious question of where the children have disappeared starts to clear up in the fourth section, from the perspective of the school principal Marcus, played by Benedict Wong.
The climax of the movie, in my opinion, takes place throughout the entire last section of the movie, from the perspective of the only boy who didn’t disappear, Alex, played by Cary Christopher.
Although the movie is good, I feel that there are some loose ends of the plot that were not tied up at the end of the movie, leaving me wanting a sequel. If you want to know why the children disappeared, go see “Weapons!”
