Season two of “Wednesday” released on Netflix in two parts. Part one was the first four episodes and was released on August 6. Part two was the rest of the episodes and was released on September 3.
Season two of “Wednesday” is about a girl named Wednesday (played by Jenna Ortega who you may know from the disney show “Stuck in the Middle”) from the Addams family movies. She goes to a school named Nevermore, a school for outcasts or kids with unique abilities.
She has a very friendly roommate named Enid Sinclair (played by Emma Myers also known for her role in “Minecraft Movie” and “The Good Girls Guide To Murder”) . Enid loves everything about color and unicorns. They become friends with a group of kids known as the Nightshades and they start on an adventure to figure out why a bunch of people in town are dying and why there are so many birds around the dead body.
Wednesday goes to ask her ex-boyfriend Tyler Galpin (played by Hunter Doohan) , who is also a Hyde that they took down last school year, to see if he has any information about the killings. While at the mental hospital, her brother brings back an old student from the school back to life as a zombie. The zombie (played by Owen Painter) breaks free and starts killing people to eat their brains. The more brains he eats the more he becomes human.
Wednesday discovers a hidden passage in the mental hospital one day and discovers a bunch of outcasts being tested on. She also discovers a member of the hospital controlling birds and learns that she is behind all of the killings. Pugsley (played by Issac Ordonez) , Wednesday’s brother zombie turns into a human form and kidnaps Pugsley and Wednesday and buries Wednesday alive, he tries to take Pugley’s powers to turn Tyler into human so he does not die. His family gets there in time so he does not die and soon the zombie tries and attacks them with their family member thing, but the Addams family over powers them and blows up half the school.
While Wednesday and Pugley are battling different things in the school, the principal is manipulating students
to do certain things. But the students kill him by turning him to stone and crushing him with a chandelier.
I really enjoyed the show all together. I loved how the characters have different personalities but still work so well together. I also love the dark colors of the show and how they make it seem gloomy, but when it shows Enid, the colors of the show pop and it makes her stand out. The costumes are also really nice and make the show seem cohesive. All the students wear a uniform, but when they leave the school sometimes the students wear a uniform that shows their personality. The producer is Tim Berton and this is his first show he made. I love how it is similar to his other work and is very well made for his first TV show. Like in the new “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” the colors of the show are gloomy and the lighting is dark but still has that character whose wardrobe stands out.
If you like shows that are gothic, this show is good for you. The show sums up the “Addams Family” series and really shows their family dynamic. If you are interested in watching it, both seasons of the show are on Netflix.
