It’s Homecoming season again, and students are beginning their yearly search for the perfect dress! Each year a different trend takes the Hoco scene by storm. What will it be this year: sparkles, silk, florals? 

There are so many colors, materials, and styles to choose from, and finding the perfect dress can be quite stressful. However, Freshman Kaitlyn Higgins knows exactly what she’s looking for in a Hoco dress. 

“[A dress that makes me] feel confident, I can move easily in, and don’t feel like I’m gonna be pulling it down all night,” Higgins said.

This year, it looks like sparkles will be taking over the dance floor. Students who responded to a poll suggest that the most popular trends right now are sparkles and sequins, followed by silk and satin dresses.

Sophomore Charlotte Drewniak doesn’t want a dress that will only get one use.

“[I look for a dress that’s] cute enough to be worn somewhere else, but eclectic enough to be worn to homecoming,” Drewniak said.

Homecoming is one of the biggest events for students at RCHS, and it is the perfect opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and find a dress that shows your personality. Junior Emma Rhodes is going with a funky, vintage look this year. 

“This year I want a more vintage or early 2000s look. I also want to make sure the color matches my tones,” Rhodes said.

If you are on the hunt for your Homecoming dress, you might want to take a look at dresses from Windsor or Lulus, the most popular Homecoming dress brands with affordable prices according to students. Some other brands that are student go-tos are Lucy in the Sky, Becky’s Bridal, or a favorite thrift store.

 The Hoco hunt can be stressful, but it is all worth it when students get to pose for pictures and take to the dance floor on Oct. 18!
