For years, Lululemon has been the top choice for teen girl activewear. However, in recent years more activewear brands have begun to arise. Brands like Alo, FP Movement, Lululemon, and Vuori. All of these brands are notorious for having an expensive price tag, yet people are still willing to pay a hefty price for the logos, and the style in trend. We decided to compare the brands, and find out which ones we, as well as our peers, like more, based on quality, price, and looks.

Founded in 1998, Lululemon has been a popular women’s activewear brand ever since it was created. Notorious for having high prices, people often wonder why consumers are willing to pay such a steep price for workout clothes. Individuals not familiar with the brand often question why buyers would be willing to pay upwards of $200 for one item, but the truth is that their quality is simply unmatched. The brand also offers many free benefits to purchasing such as free hemming on select items, as well as a quality promise that ensures that the brand will replace your item if the quality isn’t top notch after one year of use. Aside from just carrying women’s clothing, Lululemon also sells high quality men’s clothing, making them appeal to even more customers in this competitive market. In 2014, Lululemon introduced more formal wear, such as jeans, sweaters, and purses, expanding the variety for what customers are looking for and the demographic of buyers. Some of their most popular products of 2025 include the Swiftly Tech, Belt bag, and the Define Jacket.
“My favorite item from Lululemon are the ‘Hotty Hot 2.5 high rise’ shorts because they are really breathable and easy to work out in. I am willing to pay the price of $68 because their quality is unmatched,” sophomore Maria Calomeris said.

Free People Movement is much newer to the athleisure market. Founded in 2012, FP Movement is known for more funky and different activewear that is hard to find anywhere else. From bright neon colors to elaborate patterns, they have so many options if you’re looking for one-of-a-kind pieces. FP Movement also offers a bit more variety price-wise, with items starting at around $30. Unlike Lululemon, FP Movement is sold at many different stores and websites like Dicks Sporting Goods, REI, Bloomingdales, Dillards, as well as having their own standalone stores. If you’re looking for activewear that is a bit more budget friendly, with amazing quality, but still so cute, then FP Movement is definitely the way to go.
Within the last year, Alo Yoga has become increasingly popular. Alo Yoga is priced very similarly to Lululemon, sometimes even a bit more expensive. However, Alo Yoga quality does not compare to the quality of Lululemon. Often, Alo products are quick to pill and tear because of the cheap quality fabrics that they use. Shoppers are still willing to pay high prices for these items due to the popularity of the products. Some of their most popular products consist of the Alo Match Point Tennis Skirt and Alo Yoga Airbrush Streamlined Dress.

“I feel like $98 for a skirt is too much, but the brand is cute.” Sophomore Harper Bruno said.
The newest brand is Vuori, an active and athleisure brand founded in 2015, just nine years ago. The brand itself is inspired by the Californian lifestyle, as said by the founder himself, Joe Kudla. Their tagline is “Built to move in. Styled for life.”, which is reflected in their quality, and prices. Marked around the same cost as Lululemon, with the average shorts around $68, and tops ranging from $58-$98, the public have compared the brands. Vuori was found to be less for intense physical activity, and more for casual athleisure and comfort. For the few years it’s been around, Vuori has come a long way, creating one of the most popular brands for everyday, casual wear, that people love so much.

While Lululemon, Free People, Vuori, and Alo are all great quality athletic luxury brands, Lululemon takes the reign for the highest quality performance and fabrics. However, people tend to gravitate towards Free People for a funky different kind of style. Alo is often known for more neutral basics. Vuori, the Californian based brand, focuses more on comfort and leisure apparel.
