Spanish and French teacher Pamela St. Clair inducted 24 new students into the Spanish Honor Society on Nov.16. Additionally, the French Honor Society inducted one student at a separate time.

At the induction, St.Clair gave a short speech about the objective of the Spanish Honor Society. The head officers, including seniors Sullivan Ray, Maria Vargas, Sophie Youngdahl, and Matthew Boyd, gave a joint speech, and the inductees were officially initiated.

“It was the best and most successful induction we’ve ever had,” said St.Clair. “This was the first year that we had the secretaries, treasurer, and the public relations officer helping so much. That’s another reason why it went smoother, because we gave them more responsibilities and roles, so they were a good supportive system.”

For students,  French and Spanish Honor Society membership is a reward for their participation in the class after completing three levels of the language, and allows them to show love for the languages.

“I feel like it’s such an honor to be accepted into such a high ranking club, and that I got this far to know that I am capable to exceed my love for Spanish,” said newly inducted sophomore Sarah Paredes.

In the future, newly inducted members and past inducted members will be able to participate in events such as raising money for children in Honduras, Christmas caroling, and a flash mob in Hopkins Green.
