Anime Elects New Officers

The Anime Club is a group for RCHS students that are interested in Japanese animated shows and video games. Recently, the Anime Club elected a new set of officers, consisting of a president, vice president, treasurer, and librarian.

Senior Katrina Deckard is librarian of Anime Club. Deckard has been a member of Anime Club for three years.

“We watch different types of anime, have door prizes, play Yu-gi-oh card games, and every few months we host a gaming tournament,” said Deckard. “I’m looking forward to enjoying my last year with my friends in anime since I’m a senior.”

The Anime Club also has a library of over 40 anime titles, which are available to the club members to check out. As a librarian, Deckard is responsible for the checking out of the anime collection.

“For my duty as a librarian, I organize the boxes full of anime that people can check out a return, and I keep track of the film check out rate and the return rate,” said Deckard.

Mike Lenior is the sponsor of the Anime club.

¨A lot of the club members mainly come to play games, rather than to just watch Anime,” said Lenoir.

Since there is a higher demand for games than anime shows,  Lenoir is considering having a monthly meeting for club members to only play games. However, for now Anime club meets on Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in room T-2. At the meetings, the club watches various episodes of anime titles.
