RCHS Music Community Gets Ready For Winter Concert
As the holiday season approaches, the band and chorus start preparing to perform their annual winter concert. For years, the classes have been holding the concert at RCHS with sweet holiday treats following the show.
Music teacher, Miranda Fitzgerald, talked about the preparation of the winter concert.
“We prepare the same as we do every year, by spending most classes rehearsing the music for the concert,” said Fitzgerald. “We love to make music and bring everyone together during the holiday season.”
This year, the jazz band and combos are performing solos.
“A combo is a small group of the members of the jazz band,” said Fitzgerald.
Soloists have yet to be decided, but Fitzgerald plans to have some solo acts for the concert this winter.
At the concert, the jazz band is performing “Man with the Bag.” Deena Ludtke and Nellie Orrison are also doing a duet.
“December concerts aren’t about showing musical prowess. They are about bringing joy to the audience and the performers,” said Fitzgerald. “Since that is always our goal we make the concert as fun as we possibly can, but wearing festive attire and having a community and cookie time after the concert is over.”
After the concert, the music department will provide cookies and community for their audience.
The music department has worked hard to put on the best show possible. The band, jazz band, and chorus are excited to perform their December concert. Join the RCHS band and chorus on Wednesday, Dec 7th in the RCHS auditorium. For more information, visit RCHS Music.
