The Student Council Association (SCA) is the schoolwide
student leadership team. The SCA helps plan the school wide events, such as homecoming and pep rallies. The SCA is also there for students who have ideas for different events.
Each grade level has their own class council. Students elect their representatives for their class. Sophomores, junior, and senior classes elect their class council in the spring and the freshman class vote in the fall.
Paul Drumbl is a Co-Secretary for the senior class council. The senior class council plans all of the senior events, including senior trip, and senior picnic.
“I’m on the Senior Class SCA, so kind of just put together all of the events we’re going to have senior year,” says Drumbl, “Like the senior picnic and senior homecoming.”
They work as a team to come up with events that all grade levels would want to go to. Once every two weeks, they meet and talk about their next plans as a group.
“I think it is really fun to get to work with a group of people to try and accomplish goals,” said Drumbl.
The SCA has a ton of things that each class council is working towards. For most of the SCA members, they stated that their favorite part of it is planning the events.
Nic Vargas is Vice President for the SCA executive council.
“My favorite part is probably planning the dances or planning events. I really take pride in hoping everyone has fun and making sure everyone enjoys these events,” said Vargas.
All of the members have their goals in mind for the club. Some of the goals are to communicate more or
to plan things out more.
Lauren Owens is secretary for the senior council.
“I think my biggest goal for senior class is we plan things like senior picnic,
senior trip, so just having a lot of people come to both of these things, to have a lot of fun,” said Owens.
One of the main objectives for the council is cultivating school spirit.
Drew Potter is the SCA executive president.
“I had a lot of ideas for school spirit, and thought I really could help out,” said Potter.
For Potter, the best part about being on the council is the community.
“I really like the community, [even though] we’re separated into different councils, when we come together, it’s a lot of fun, and you make a lot of friends with people you didn’t know before,” said Potter.
