The new season premiere of “Dancing With The Stars” (DWTS) aired on Sept. 17, which excited many students at the high school and beyond. Each year, a new set of celebrities joins the DWTS professional dancers, but this year many of the stars are extra special.
Every week, on Tuesday nights at eight o’clock, each couple performs a new dance, created by the professional dancers. Both judges and fans are able to vote on who they want to continue in the competition and who they want to eliminate.
ABC brought some of this season’s stars both from the 2024 Paris Olympics and the past two seasons of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette”.
Joey Graziadei and Jenn Tran, two of the dancing celebrities, were “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” the past two years. This caught the attention of many Bachelor Nation fans. Along with these stars, Stephen Nedoroscik and IIona Maher, from the recent Olympics games, were brought to the show.
Senior Eleanor Goodhart shares her favorite couple of this season, which she has in common with other fans, especially Bachelor watchers.
“I am definitely planning on watching season 33 when I have some time. The couple I’m rooting for the most is Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson,” said Goodhart.
Well-known celebrities, skilled dancers, catchy cha chas, and creative moves create excitement when fans tune in. Each episode has a theme that each couple must follow and match their music to.
Freshman Abigail Woodford has a few favorite themes the show has done in the past.
“I love seeing the dances that they come up with and all the different themes. Most of the time I just watch the fun episodes, like the premiere, halloween night, disney night, and the finale,” said Woodford.
Viewers can vote on their favorite couple during live episodes and stay involved in the competition. DWTS fans find it fun to help decide the season’s winners and it can be an exciting and interactive way to spend Tuesday nights.
Goodhart also explains why she enjoys the show and how she got hooked on watching it.
“I started watching Dancing With The Stars with my grandparents when I was younger. They loved the show and I liked an excuse to see them and watch TV with them. Eventually I grew to really like it too,” said Goodhart.
