Color Guard is a team building club where members perform at pep rallies and football games, as well as competitions. They work with the school’s marching band to make routines that will encourage school spirit. Sophomore Rachel Burke is a second year member on Color Guard. She talks about how the team does things together.
“We spend a lot of time together. We have a christmas party around december, where we go to somebody’s house and make a bunch of mocktails. So that’s really nice just to bond to each other,” said Burke.
Before Friday games the team likes to hang out with eachother. The team gets together after school and talks about what they want to achieve and the games.
Sophomore Eden Smith is a second year member on Color Guard.
“Well, first we have practice after school, once we finish up practice, we have dinner together, and we all get ready together, and it’s really fun,” said Eden Smith.
When working on routines it may seem hard to time everything up so that everyone is in sync. After spending so much time together you never know when someone might go off on a beat and mess up.
Sophomore Kadence Salins is the team captain of the group.
“One goal that we’re working towards is just being in sync with each other and just getting to know each other a lot more than we already do in a positive and collaborative way,” said Salins.
Color guard is about performing and showing what you have learned from all of the practices. School spirit also plays a big part in your performance.
Senior Venus Slagle is a fourth year member of the Color Guard.
“Some of the best things are being able to just perform, put on a show, let your hard work be seen by the audience, and just be able to push yourself harder and harder every time,” said Slagle.
Look out for the Color Guard during their halftime show at the football games, or one of their upcoming competitions. Saturday October 5th 2024.
