There are plenty of clubs in RCHS for students to spend their time on, however, there’s not a lot of variety between these clubs. Most of the clubs are made for developing traits like leadership, or to build on academic development. There’s hardly any school clubs made for entertainment and for students to develop other new skills. This school year, however, was a step in the right direction, with the additions of, the Pickelball club, Dungeons and Dragons Club, Disc Golf Club, the Hack Club and the Cyber Club.
Clubs are important to the students and the environment of the school because they give students more to do and something to look forward to. We asked around the school for suggestions from students and teachers for ideas about possible clubs.
A cooking club in the school would not only give students a quality extracurricular activity to spend the time, it would also help improve life skills students can use for the rest of their lives. A cooking club can also let students relax themselves and let them learn how to cook good, quality food. RCHS teacher Amanda Grimm shares her thoughts on a cooking club at the high school.
“I think a cooking club would be beneficial for the school, just to help students learn how to cook things so that they can go home and maybe prepare things for their families,” Grimm said.
Another idea for a new club that can be added to the school is a fishing club. A fishing club can not only add more variety to school clubs, it can also allow students to go outside more often and learn valuable life skills and learn new things.
A dodgeball club can encourage students to be more active and encourage students to interact with each other. Junior Harrison Tanner shares his thoughts on a dodgeball club
“A dodgeball club would bring out a lot of students to watch and play it and it would let students develop good traits like leadership and it would help get students more active.” Tanner said.
A guitar club can let students learn another skill and give them something else to do for fun, a guitar club can also encourage confidence within students and it would encourage more people to participate in events like the talent show and it may even inspire students to make a career out of being a guitarist.
In conclusion, there are plenty of clubs RCHS needs to add that students will join, these clubs will add more variety to school activities and will increase student morale.
