This year Google released the annual “year in search” for 2024. The year in search, which has been around for 15 years, is a compilation of most searched things throughout the year. 

Google breaks the searches up into  categories: trending,entertainment,sports,lifestyle&gaming,hum to search, and Google Maps. In the music industry Sabrina Carpenter was top 5 in searches. 2024 was her most successful year, earning $12 million. Senior, Jimitrius Elliott said, “I was honestly not surprised that Sabrina Carpenter was in the top 5 searches, since she is a fine, creative, and talented young woman.” Said Elliott

Linkin park, a rock band that has been around since 1996,was right behind Sabrina Carpenter in the searches. Although the band is on a rise this year, many students were opinionated on their ranking,“I have heard of Linkin park, and they are mediocre at best. I haven’t been able to get into their  music, since it isn’t my style.” said Junior John David 

Another student, John Brooke; a senior, gives insight on the band. “The band has a couple of good songs but overall it isn’t my taste of music.” Brooke said. 

The number one person on the Google Year in search was Donald Trump and he was number 2 on most searches. Trump was shot on July 13, 2024 at a rally near Butler PA, and he survived. Senior, Jayce Tolley gave insight on Trump’s position on the leaderboard,“I was not surprised about Trump getting shot during his rally Butler PA being in the top 5 for both.” Tolley said.

2024 was a crazy year within the media, new artists were born, Linkin park went on their final tour, and new TV shows came out. Onto the next year.
