As the food series continues, we now are searching for the best pretzel in Lexington. After strong consideration we decided that the best battle would be between Palms and Macado’s. These legendary Lexington restaurants have been known for their pretzels so we had to try them out.
First on the chopping block was Macado’s pretzel and beer cheese. The pretzel costs $10.25. Quincy had high hopes for this pretzel given that it is his go to Macado’s order. He loves the butter and firm crust of the two pretzels they give you, as well as the adequate amount of salt that grazes the crust. Despite the fact that the pretzel was cooked to perfection, it isn’t his favorite part of the meal. Quincy believes the Macado’s beer cheese compliments the pretzels very well. It’s a salty and tangy cheese that has a great consistency. Quincy ranks the pretzel a 9/10. Dean rated the macado’s pretzel a 8/10. He liked the beer cheese because it was drippy. Dean thinks that the pretzel was very good, but it could have been warmer.
When it comes to the best qualities of Palms, it is severely shadowed by the same qualities of macados. The three soft pretzels cost $12. Quincy thought the pretzel had a good temperature, but thought it was very over salted. The size of the pretzels were pretty small, but the quantity of pretzels, three, make up for it. Quincy’s favorite part of the pretzel was the temperature and crunch, and his least favorite part was the cheese. He rates the pretzel a 6.5/10. Dean liked the pretzel as much or more than the Macado’s pretzel. The increase in pretzels provided as well as the better temperature were major factors in Dean’s decision. His least favorite part was the cheese. Dean rates the pretzel a 9/10.
Despite the differing opinions between Quincy and Dean on which pretzel was better, they decided to give the edge to Macados’ pretzel. They both believe the dominance that Macados’ has over Palms in the cheese category seals the deal.
