This upcoming March, art and photography classes will be hosting an art showcase at Earth, Fire, and Spirit Pottery in Downtown Lexington.
Erin Allen is an Art and Theater teacher.
“Students from Studio Art & Design 1 – 4 have been creating multi-themed works since the start of this school year. Those works will be considered for gallery display in addition to artworks from Ceramics, Intro to Art, and Photography classes,” Allen said.
There will be an art gallery in the school commons for students to see in addition to the gallery downtown. The public will be able to purchase students’ artwork at the gallery. This is an opportunity for a student to receive money for their work.
“Students have the opportunity to show their work in a professional gallery and to earn a commission from the artworks that sell. It’s also a unique and powerful experience to have artwork on public display in the community. The gallery show is a wonderful celebration of RCHS artistic talent,” Allen said.
All of the students of the art and photography classes are working hard on their art pieces and are excited to show their skills and progress over the years. “I am excited about the artworks in which students are 100% invested. Their creativity and solid technique really shine in the gallery shows,” Allen said.
Junior art student Alison Rager one of the projects.
“The art project I’m most excited for is the textile pattern project because I love making art that is beautiful but also functional. I’m really excited to show off my tin project in the art show because I put in a lot of effort into each piece of the tin,” Rager said.
