Economics and Personal Finance classes have a new teacher: Graceon Whitesell. After graduating from Rockbridge County High School in 2020, she decided to come back to the school but this time for teaching.
“I grew up here, this is where I am from so I really wanted to come back to the area and I graduated here that’s why I wanted to come back,” Whitesell said
This isn’t Whitesell’s first year teaching; it’s her third.
“ It is a little weird though when some of your teachers are your colleagues which is a little strange but I’m getting used to it and I really enjoy that,” Whitesell said.
While different teachers use different methods for teaching such as visuals or notes, Mrs. Whitesell she prefers to be more interactive with her students through projects.
“I really like project based learning and hands-on learning. A lot of my classes don’t take a lot of notes and it involves the students actually driving the projects themselves,” Whitesell said.
For Mrs.Whitesell she is working on time management skills,
“Right now I am focusing on time management as far as coaching and being a teacher. It is a little tough but it is getting better everyday,” Whitesell said.
Whitesell hopes to have a “really good first year at Rockbridge” and expand student’s minds.
Whitesell is in room T2 stop by and say hi.
