Ragland joins administration team

Rockbridge County High School is excited to welcome Dalton Ragland as its new assistant principal. Ragland, a native of Nelson County, Virginia, brings a strong background in education and leadership to RCHS. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2020, with his masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, he later earned his administrative endorsement through Longwood University.

For the past five years, Ragland has worked as a teacher, and has since taken on a variety of leadership positions, including 504 Coordinator, Grade Level Lead, School Testing Coordinator, and basketball coach.

Now stepping into his new role at RCHS, Ragland is eager to get involved.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know the community, getting to know the staff and students, and figuring out the atmosphere and vibe of the school,” said Ragland.

Outside of work, Ragland enjoys spending time with his wife, Bree, and their dog, Ellie. He also helps run a family side business that takes him to card conventions, where he buys, sells, and trades a variety of collectible trading cards.

Senior Brody Kirkpatrick is the News Editor for The Prowler, though he would sometimes prefer to write heavily opinionated and controversial pieces for the Opinion section. This his third and final year in Journalism, he stuck with it because he loves writing, but not in his free time. Outside of school, he stays busy working at Chick-fil-A and, come Sunday, can usually be found watching the latest Formula 1 Grand Prix. In his rare free time, Brody enjoys playing airsoft at Augusta Airsoft LLC (yes, this is an advertisement), or firing up his PS5 for long sessions of Ready or Not or Helldivers 2. After graduation, he plans to (probably) attend college and (definitely) pursue a career in local law enforcement.
Zach Watts
Zach Watts, Reporter
Zach Watts is a senior at Rockbridge County High School and is a second year reporter for The Prowler, he is a member of the Hinojosa Boxing Club’s competitive boxing team and plans on competing in the Virginia State Silver Gloves in November. Zach Watts is also passionate about fishing. Outside of sports, he likes to spend time with friends and family, and watching sports and movies. This year, he is looking forward to going on the senior field trips and spending one more year in High School with his friends. After high school, he plans on attending a four year college.

Carlos Reynolds, Reporter
Senior, Carlos Reynolds, a third year reporter for The Prowler hopes to hone his skills through writing and video taping. He enrolled in the class after watching countless Wildcat Weekly, reading the monthly newspaper, and gaining high interest in the class. Reynolds plays soccer in his free-time and has played with the Rockbridge County boys team as well as a travel league with RUSC. He partakes in many school clubs such as Outing Club. Reynolds is also a member of Rockbridge County Young Life. He hopes to inform the school with fun and silly writing.
