Jennifer Havird is a new teacher here at RCHS, teaching English 11, AP English 11, and English 12.
She graduated from University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She then went on to receive her Master of Arts and Master of Arts in Teaching in English Secondary Education from Liberty University.

Havird moved to Rockbridge County from Central Pennsylvania where she spent the past five years teaching English 11 on all levels. Since Havird’s husband was in the military, this is officially the seventh district and eighth school she has taught at.
“I love teaching English and I love teaching high school,” Havird said.
After Havird expressed her love for English, she was then asked what her favorite books were to teach.
“I love “The Lost Generation”, “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Dorothy Parker, and I love teaching true crime,” Havird said.
This is Havird’s first year teaching at the same school as her daughter, senior Reese Havird. She expressed that it is something she has not sought out to do.
“It’s not bad, but I’m glad I’m not her teacher,” Havird said.
She was then asked what she was looking forward to this upcoming school year.
“I hope to make this year fun for my students, get to know the curriculum and my colleagues well, and watch my child graduate in May 2026,” Havird said.
If you are interested in meeting Havird, she can be found in room 111.
