Zachery Byrd joins SPED department

As the new school year begins, many new people have become members of the teaching staff. One of these new teachers is Zachery Byrd, who is a Teacher’s Assistant. As a Teacher’s Assistant, he joins classes to help with special education students.

In the past four years, he has been a teacher’s assistant at 3 different elementary schools.

“My first year was down in Georgia, second year was here in Virginia at Enderly Heights Elementary School, and third and fourth years were at Mountain View Elementary School,” Byrd said.

Byrd was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He decided to move to Virginia since his sibling lives in Lexington. On the weekends, Byrd enjoys sleeping in, going on walks, and playing basketball.

When asked about his first day of school, Byrd rated it as an 8/10. Byrd enjoys working with older students compared to his previous elementary students.

“It was not as bad as I thought it was. It was nice not getting beat up by third graders,” Byrd said.

In the upcoming school year, he is looking forward to having conversations with students.

Ava Crocker, Reporter

Senior Ava Crocker is a first year reporter for the Prowler. She is excited to interact with and get to know the student body. While she already enjoys the photography aspect of journalism she is excited to learn more about the videography process. She is a member of National Honor Society (NHS), Project Connection, Young Life, the RCHS volleyball team and is the President of the Outing Club. When she is not at school, Crocker enjoys camping trips, shopping at TJ Maxx and getting stressed in escape rooms. When Crocker leaves high school she hopes to be the #1 Subaru saleswoman and get a lifetime supply of Subarus.

Lola Mulitalo, Reporter

Senior Lola Mulitalo is a second year reporter for the Prowler. She loves being funny – some might even call her the dad joker. Mulitalo always has a dad joke ready and can make any crowd stay quiet. Mulitalo participates in the RCHS girls lacrosse team and basketball team. Although Mulitalo loves to play basketball, lacrosse is where she thrives the most. After high school Mulitalo plans to attend Kennesaw State where she will continue her academic and lacrosse career. When Mulitalo isn’t playing lacrosse, she likes to watch Tangled and dominate in pickleball and spikeball. Mulitalo is thrilled to be in the journalism group again and can’t wait to get started.

Geneva Snyder, Feature Editor

Geneva Snyder is a junior, and this is her second year on The Prowler staff. She is ecstatic to be the feature editor for The Prowler this year! This is Snyder’s third year on the varsity volleyball team, and she plays travel volleyball as well. Snyder will be helping to lead the school as the Executive Student Council secretary. She is the NHS historian, and the co-founder and president of the Pickleball Club. She also is involved in FCCLA, Younglife, and Y-Street. Outside of school, Snyder loves to dominate in pickleball, brush my long luscious hair, go to Cookout, and eat sweet treats. Snyder is so excited for another great year with The Prowler!
