From international adventures to relaxing hometown fun, the Rockbridge County High School community made the most of their summer vacation. Students and teachers returned to school with exciting new stories to tell, reflecting on a summer filled with travel, new hobbies, and time with family.
Many took the opportunity to explore destinations both near and far. Some students traveled internationally, visiting historical sites in Europe.
Freshman, Warner Myers, spent time in both London and Paris.
“My favorite part was seeing the London Eye,” said Myers.
Myers also participated in a soccer camp in Paris, France on his trip to Europe.
Junior Dmitriy Billias spent most of his summer in Russia visiting family. His international adventure included a visit to the Black Sea and other famous coastlines across other areas like Crimea.
“I had a lot of fun in Russia but I missed Lexington,” Billias said.
Closer to home, junior Parker Fountain, visited Florida, where he watched a rocket launch and played plenty of soccer.
“I really enjoyed Florida and spending time with my family,” said Parker.
Parker spent most of his summer on vacation with his family which even included watching a rocket launch.
The variety of activities shows that a great summer can have many exciting new things, whether it’s in this country or another one. The summer wasn’t just about travel. It was also a time for new hobbies, learning skills, and enjoying simple, fun activities. The summer break provided a chance to recharge and return to school feeling refreshed and ready for another year. As the year gets underway, the conversations in the hallways are filled with these summer experiences.
