Since October is breast cancer awareness month, Mrs. Wright(the nurse aide teacher) decided she would like to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Her cupcakes fundraiser has spanned back several years and it has always been successful. The culinary class made both the cupcakes and frosting while the nurse aide students frosted them. On Oct. 11, the day before, the students watched a tutorial to complete the icing with pink coloring as it befits the specific cancer awareness. For the day of sale, on Oct. 12, they met in the commons for distribution. Their cupcakes sold were $2 for each and $3 for 2 cupcakes. When the first bell rang to dismiss students to their first period class, they gathered into T4 classroom in order to gather their materials for an around-the-school cupcake-on-a-buggy sale.
Junior Gabi Delconte speaks about her experience helping out as a nurse aide student.
“I had lots of fun piping the icing, and I was very happy to help with a fundraiser for such a good cause,” said Delconte.
Ultimately, their endeavor reached great revenue to donate towards breast cancer awareness.
