Maddie David is a Sophomore at Rockbridge County High School and recently has been pursuing her love for music with some of her friends. David plays Alto Saxophone in a band called Half Brass with five other musicians. They play upbeat and high-energy tunes.
David has future goals for this group. “We are hoping to start putting some stuff on Spotify, we just recorded one of our original songs to upload,” David explained.
They are also having some exciting additions to the band’s songs.
“Were also working on a Christmas album that’s hopefully going to come out in December,” David explained.
The band’s main income comes from Buscing. Half Brass plays money in a public setting for tips from the audience. This is how the band affords sound equipment to record music and upload it. David dives further into her busking experiences.
“We’ll play either Downtown Lexington or Downtown Charlottesville, and we play music for a couple hours. We usually get quite a bit of money and a nice audience,”said David.
Half Brass played in the RCHS Talent show last year, played during intermission during the theater productions, and they hope to play again this year, and continue to share their music throughout the school.
