Every year the class elections open up and the new freshmen elect student council members to lead their class for the year.
The freshman class this year showed massive enthusiasm with over a dozen candidates running for the positions of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer.
The race ended on election day, Sept. 17 and four new members were elected.
In the presidential race Emmilyn Kelly beat out three other candidates.
While in the vice presidential and secretary races both Reagan Coleman and Reagan Imlar ran against four other candidates in their respective races. Olivia McCoy won against two candidates in the treasurer race. After winning, all the candidates were shocked.
“I didn’t expect to win” Kelly said.
Each of the candidates then all expressed their goal of ensuring school remains a fun and safe environment especially for their class.
In the spring of this year the sophomore and junior classes will hold their elections, and this year the pressure is on because the SCA for the rising juniors is responsible for prom and the rising seniors are in charge of funding and planning the senior trip.
