This Fall, Starbucks, among many other coffee shops, have added Fall drinks to their menus. When reviewing the drinks, we noted our favorites and least favorites.
We tried pumpkin and apple flavored drinks and decided that the apple flavored drinks had a stronger, more fall-like taste than the pumpkin flavored drinks. We also felt that the chais tended to have a better taste than the coffee based drinks.
The Apple Crisp Non Dairy Cold Foam Chai had the highest ranking of the drinks we tried. This is because we felt that it had a perfect amount of sweetness, but it also had a refreshing apple flavor in it, which enhanced the spice from the chai. The Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai tasted like their regular chai with vanilla sweet cream, just a little sweeter.
We also tried the Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte, and concluded that it was very bitter and had a taste of dirt. It was not the most delightful, and neither of us would get it again.
We had also gotten the Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato. Although it was not the most tasty out of their fall drinks, it did have a nice fall feel to it. The apple syrup enhanced the fall feel and helped sweeten the drink.
We ranked the drinks from highest to lowest, and decided that the Apple Crisp Non Dairy Cold Foam Chai was number one, the Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai was second on our list, the Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato was third, and the Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte was ranked last on our list due to the taste of dirty coffee that it had.
There are two more seasonal drinks that we want to try from the Starbucks menu, however, we did try the most popular drinks offered there during fall.
Onto different places selling seasonal drinks, at Chick-fil-A, we tried the Banana Pudding milkshake. We thought that it had great flavor and is a great addition to the menu during fall. The crunchy bits of vanilla wafers added to the texture in a positive way. This seasonal drink is definitely something we would order again, and we wish that it was available year-round. It was perfectly sweet and tasted like real banana pudding instead of overly artificial.
At Dunkin we tried the Iced Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte. Overall, the latte felt like a fall drink, and was not as sweet as Starbucks. It was refreshing and the lack of sweetness enhanced the pumpkin flavor and made the drink more enjoyable.
For our last stop, we went to a Cookout and got their seasonal Pumpkin Pie milkshake. This did not meet our expectations. Especially since we both enjoy pumpkin flavored drinks, we were greatly disappointed. It had too much flavor and had a strong taste of cinnamon that overpowered the pumpkin. We would not recommend buying this milkshake. Even though it wasn’t overly sweet, we felt that it just didn’t taste right and would prefer one of their other regular flavors.
Overall, seasonal drinks are either a hit or miss. We enjoyed a majority of the drinks we tried, however the ones we didn’t enjoy were either too strong or lacked flavor in general.
