Crumbl Cookies, a chain cookie restaurant, has taken over the internet. Social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram are flooded with reviews and taste tests of the extravagant cookies. Customers are inclined to come back for their unique weekly flavors. Although Crumbl Cookies is surrounded by popularity, there is some negativity toward the business.
Many believe the cookies are too sweet, and the absurd amount of calories in a single cookie worries many customers. Many people have strong opinions on these flavorful sweet treats, so we decided to try out the array of cookies for ourselves.
We purchased and reviewed the Crumbl Cookies’ flavors of the week for Oct. 13-19 from the Crumbl Cookies location in Harrisonburg. This week’s lineup included: Semi Sweet Chocolate Chunk, Cookie Dough, Cornbread Cookie, as well as a Double Fudge Brownie. The total cost of three cookies and one dessert was $18.
First, we tried the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunk, which is sold every other week. Geneva loved this cookie. Her favorite part was the salty kick that followed the original sweet taste. She rated this cookie a 10/10. Cate also loved this cookie, and gave it a 10/10.
The second cookie that we ate was Cornbread. Cate did not like this cookie at all. She thought that it too closely resembled cornbread. On the other hand, she did enjoy the sweet icing on the cookie. Geneva thought this cookie was alright, and the icing was definitely the best part. Cate ranked this a 2/10, and Geneva gave it a 7/10.
Next, we tried the Cookie Dough. We expected this cookie to be our favorite, but it was a bit of a let down. We thought the icing tasted like coffee, and neither of us like that. The cookie had a perfect soft and chewy texture, and a perfect ratio of sweet and salty. Cate liked the texture, but it was too salty. Geneva liked the toppings but didn’t like how closely the flavor resembled coffee. Cate and Geneva both gave this cookie a 6/10.
Finally, we tried the Double Fudge Brownie. While this treat is not a cookie, it is still an amazing confection. Both Cate and Geneva enjoyed the perfectly fudgy texture of this brownie. It also included a sweet chocolate icing that both of us went crazy over. Geneva and Cate both loved the icing. Cate gave it a 100/10 and Geneva gave it a 9/10.
In conclusion, our tasting experience of Crumbl Cookies’ weekly flavors gave us a large range of flavors. While the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chocolate Chunk earned a high rating for its balance of sweet and salty, the Cornbread Cookie proved to have an eclectic taste. The Cookie Dough was a disappointment for both, mostly due to the unexpected coffee flavor, despite its great texture. However, the Double Fudge Brownie stole the show with its rich indulgence, proving that not all dessert experiences need to fit into the cookie category.
Overall, Crumbl Cookies continues to spark conversation, reminding us that taste is a personal preference and everyone likes something different.
