Introducing the newest addition to downtown Lexington’s local stores: Thistleberrys. This cute gift store opened on Oct. 2, right across from RC Theaters and it has been the perfect addition to downtown. Shoppers can find delicious baked goods, scented soaps, perfect fall candles, and so much more.
Thistleberrys is a quaint gift shop filled with goodies and trinkets. The first baked good we tried was the M&M blondie. Although this was not our favorite, there was a great contrast of the vanilla flavor with the chocolate candies. It was slightly messy when we took a bite, and crumbs tended to fall as we ate it. We felt like it would be the perfect dessert if eaten fresh out of the oven. The M&M’s gave a nice touch to the decoration as well. Overall it was a 7/10.
We then tried the best cookie ever. It was a soft sugar cookie base with a smooth, creamy raspberry flavored icing. The cookie base was delicious but not too sweet at the same time. Best of all was the pretty pink icing topped off with a sweet raspberry that completed the presentation and taste of the cookie. It had an exquisite texture and melted into our mouths with each bite. It also was good room temperature and did not crumble too much. Definitely the best sweet treat with a rating of 10/10.
Last on the list of treats we tried was the cinnamon roll. Even people who are not fans of cinnamon rolls will love this one. The cream cheese frosting was perfectly unsweet and meshed well with the cinnamon sugar on the dough. The frosting, unlike other icings used on cinnamon rolls, was thick and flavorful. The cinnamon roll almost had the texture of a cookie due to being slightly cold, but it only added to the flavor. It was not too heavy on the stomach unlike a lot of cinnamon rolls. An added plus, it came in super cute packaging, a reusable fall themed container. This sweet treat comes in second with a 9/10 on our ratings chart.
We both intend on getting the raspberry cookie and cinnamon roll again in the near future. Thistleberrys is another cute addition to all of Lexington’s small businesses and shops, and we cannot wait for all the plans Thistleberrys has for the future.
