Artificial Intelligence is becoming a big part of how students learn in high school these days. While many believe that AI is a resource that makes learning easier, others think it could take away from students’ independence and the skills that could be useful to them.
There are so many different ways that you can think about AI being used in a school setting. Students can use it to study for tests, brainstorm ideas, and make helpful graphics for classes. All of these are things that are made easier by the use of AI.
From the other perspective, AI can be a negative influence in schools if used incorrectly and dishonestly. Students could use AI to look up homework answers, write assignments for them, and just generally cheat on things. This is one of the primary reasons why schools are opposed to the use of AI.
In my opinion, AI should be allowed for use in schools, but in a limited capacity. There should be a website that can detect the use of AI in schools. However, since this is not currently a thing, there should be a system in place that allows students to use AI for certain purposes, but requires them to specify that they used it and for what purpose.
This would be very helpful for tasks such as studying for tests and would enable students to better understand materials, particularly when reviewing concepts they may not have fully grasped in class.
