Football Tailgates are considered one of the best parts about going to a football game. Tailgates have all kinds of options on what to do. However, what the best thing to do at a tailgate is quite controversial.
- Controversial, but in the five spot for me is exploring around the other tailgates and meeting other fans, especially at large tailgates like power four schools. Sometimes you can have fans that have multiple tents and TVs with so many people. Then getting to meet those people is such a cool experience, lots of them have very interesting stories to tell.
- In the fourth spot, I say throwing a football. Throwing a football is fun at the beginning, especially when you’re doing it with a relative or close friend. However, eventually arms start to get tired or the conversation starts to die out and people start to sit down.
- If someone brings a TV, watching other games while you’re tailgating is awesome. There’s always some close game or crazy upset happening that keeps everyone talking. If College Game Day is on, the energy is unreal. It just makes the whole atmosphere even better which is why this comes in at my three spot.
- Cornhole easily makes the top three. Cornhole is one of the games where anyone can play, regardless of their skill level, and it always gets competitive quickly. However, even with a little bit of competitiveness, cornhole is the perfect mix of fun and chill, and you can watch a game on TV while playing.
- Lastly, grabbing a bite to eat and socializing with others is undoubtedly the best thing to do. In my opinion, the best food comes from a tailgate, even if you have no idea who cooked it. There is also a huge variety in food with things such as grilled burgers, BBQ, and desserts. You name it and it is most likely there. Tailgates are also where you have some of the best conversations. Eating, talking, and laughing with others around you is really what makes a tailgate special.
