Sophomore Mackenzie Chenoweth moved to Rockbridge this summer from Harrisonburg, Va. and is already wanting to become more involved at the school. This year, she plans on joining both the swim team and the outdoor track team. Besides swimming and running track, Chenoweth also enjoys throwing shot put and discus.

“I plan on getting a summer job in town, and also on joining the summer swim league,” said Chenoweth.

In addition to these things, Chenoweth also enjoys learning about other cultures in the world, which she has been able to do through her mother’s English as a Second Language classes.

Junior Clifton Sanders switched from Parry McCluer High School to RCHS this year and is already enjoying a successful transition, during which he said he was able to “meet a bunch of cool people.”

Sanders enjoys hunting and fishing, and he is playing on the varsity football team for the first time.

His favorite musical artist is Toby Keith, and he is known to always fly an American flag on his truck.

Junior Suzanna Stoneburner was born in England, and has traveled to places as far as South Korea.

Her hobbies include woodworking and crew, or rowing, and she plans on participating in the RCHS Interact Service Club.

Freshman Alex Jimenez transferred from Parry McCluer High School this past summer. Jimenez intends to join the soccer team and possibly participate in service projects at the school.

This summer, Jimenez went to the beach, spent time whitewater rafting, and worked at a firework stand.

Besides soccer, his interests include building personal computers, reading, and playing football.

Hannah Mayr joined the sophomore class this school year and is planning to participate in several local activities. These include joining the girls’ lacrosse team and participating in Rockbridge County Younglife. This is fitting considering her previous home.

“I used to live on a Younglife camp called Lake Champion, in upstate New York,” said Mayr.

Her hobbies include singing, soccer, and reading.

Sophomore Preston Peckham moved to Rockbridge County this summer from upstate New York and is one of the several new additions to the tenth grade class this school year.
