Yob instructs a class on an upcoming test.

Mary Yob is one of the two new English teachers. She is a first year teacher currently teaching English 10. Originally from Sterling, Va., Yob recently moved to Lexington in July 2017.

Yob graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in English. Yob also obtained a master’s degree in the arts. She has been interested in English as a career since an early age.

“I helped out in elementary school classes when I was in high school, but I knew I always wanted to be an English teacher,” said Yob.

Yob loves teaching for the  relationships and connections she forms with students.

“Everyone at RCHS is really welcoming and super kind,” said Yob.

In her spare time, Yob enjoys reading lots of books. Her favorites include, “The Art of Racing in the Rain,” by Garth Stein, and, “When Breath Becomes Air,” by Paul Kalanithi. Yob also enjoys kayaking and going on hikes with her fiance.
