Lady ‘Cats Basketball Falls to Rival Parry McCluer
The girl’s basketball team fell to county rival Parry McCluer in the team’s season opener on Monday night, 53-22. The ‘Cats were led in scoring by four players; Jorden Dunn, Emma Camden, Raeann Hostetter and Maria Vargas, who finished with four points each.
The Blues jumped out to an early 21-0 lead over the ‘Cats in the first half, shutting out the ‘Cats in the first quarter and the opening minutes of the second quarter. An Emma Camden free throw early in the second quarter ended Parry McCluer’s shut out. Raeann Hostetter hit a three-pointer to end a Rockbridge 14-minute field goal drought with just over two minutes left in the half.

The Wildcats went into halftime training,35-9. The Blues’ defense continued its pressure in the second half, holding the ‘Cats to just 13 second-half points. Parry McCluer’s Hailey Huffman led the Blues’ scoring, finishing with 13 points.
The loss dropped the Lady ‘Cats to 0-1 on the season, while Parry McCluer improved to 2-0.
