2021 World Series Recap
This past week, the Atlanta Braves and the Houston Astros faced off to see who would become the 2021 Major League Baseball World Series Champions. On Oct. 26, the Braves came out of Game One with a win of six-two. The next day, the Astros struck back and tied the series winning with a score of seven-two. Game three and four were dominated by Atlanta, giving them a lead in the series three wins to one. However, the Astros weren’t ready to give up yet. They came back winning Game Five with a score of nine-five. Game Six was a make or break for Houston. The World Series usually has seven games, but can end when one team has too much of a lead for the other team to recover from. The Astros needed to win game six if they wanted a chance at getting to game seven. The first two innings were uneventful with both teams scoring nothing. Then, the Braves came out in the top of the third inning as Jorge Soler hit a three run home run, scoring the Braves three points. The Braves led the Astros three-zero until the top of the fifth inning when Dansby Swanson hit a two run home run, bringing the score to five-zero. It wasn’t looking very good for the Astros. The Braves sealed the game in the top of the seventh inning, when Freddie Freeman added another two points as he hit a home run and brought the final score to seven to zero. The Braves had not been to the World Series since 1996 and this time they came to win this time. Although the Braves lost their starting pitcher Game One and then lost another one of their best players, Ronald Acuna, Jr. to an ACL injury and the probability that they would make it this far was questionable, however, the Braves worked hard and pulled through to become the 2021 World Series Champions.
