Thursday, Sept. 5 marked the start of the 2024-25 season when the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Baltimore Ravens at home and won 27-20. The following day the NFL took a trip to São Paulo, Brazil where the Eagles beat the Packers 34-29. The weekend was even busier with 26 teams competing on Sunday. On Monday, the New York Jets took a trip to San Francisco where they fell to the 49ers 19-32.
As with the start of every season, students’ hopes are high for their favorite teams. Freshman Rowe Carter believes his favorite team, the Carolina Panthers, will finish with a record of 7 wins and 10 losses. The Panthers over-under for wins this season on ESPN is 5.5, meaning they are predicted to win around five or six of their games.
Some students have more faith in their team. For example, freshman Joe Vargas thinks the Pittsburgh Steelers will either go undefeated or finish with a record of 12 wins and 5 losses.
“We got two new quarterbacks and the best linebacker, TJ Watt, I think that we will be a powerhouse because of this,’’ said Vargas.
On “ESPN,” however, the Pittsburgh Steelers have an over under of 8.5, which is closer to how people think their season will go.
Golf coach David Miller doesn’t think his favorite team, the Las Vegas Raiders, will do well
“We were good when I was younger but now we aren’t good anymore’’,”said Miller. The Raiders had a record of 6-11 last season.
Every time the NFL season starts, the fans are excited to not only just see how their team does, but also excited to just be able to watch the highest level of football once again.
