Outdoor Track and Field began its season on Feb. 24. Following a successful run from the indoor season, the team looks forward to continuing its success.
Sophomore Bella Wright is in her second season on Track & Field.
“I’m looking forward to improving this season, and hopefully making it to districts and regionals,” Wright said.
The team competes in multiple events, including sprints, hurdles, long distance, shot put, long jump, high jump, discus, and relays.
Sophomore Celia Jones is in her second year doing outdoor track. Last year, she made it to Regionals.
“This outdoor team seems very strong this year, we may not have too many people but all of our runners and throwers have been pushing themselves to get a lot better. We have a new coach this season and he is also helping us push ourselves a lot more than we used too. I think we’re gonna have a great season this year,” Jones said.
Come support the Track team at their first meet on March 28 at Harrisonburg High School.
This year’s outdoor track team will be way different than last year. We lost two seniors last year so this will be more challenging for our track team. Knowing us we’ll get back on track and still come on top. Not many people are on this year’s outdoor track team for several years but that hasn’t stopped us from trying to compete and win meets.
Athletes from the indoor track team are trying out on Feb. 24th for the outdoor team. Recently our indoor track team has been doing outstanding work in their season, they hope their outdoor team can do the same. Some of the runners on the indoor track have made it to regionals Celia Jones, Arinrna Mitchel,. Both of them have made it to regionals.
Sophomore Celia Jones, this is Jones’s second year doing outdoor track at Rockbridge county. Jones made it to regionals last year’s outdoor track season but can she do it again?
