Wildcat cheerleaders rise to third place

On Sept. 17, the Wildcat cheerleaders faced Salem High School, Christiansburg High School, Louisa County High School, and Stuarts Draft High School in their first home competition. A large student section came out to support the cheerleaders. The team competed with a routine they had been practicing everyday after school.

The team received third place overall in the competition.

Sophomore Natasha Shorter reflects on the competition.

“We were super excited to perform at home! I think for the most part we all felt confident in our preparation for the competition because we have practice every single day that we work hard at,” Shorter said.

The cheerleaders will compete again at home on Oct. 15.

Sophomore Maeve McGrath is a first year Reporter on the Prowler. McGrath is excited to be a reporter and learn more about writing and interviewing. Maeve loves to write and to talk to people, so journalism was a perfect pick! McGrath will play for the Rockbridge girls lacrosse team for the third year and enjoys helping out with the younger LexLax teams. While she isn’t playing lacrosse, you might find McGrath taking photographs with her Canon camera, painting with water colors, shopping, or listening to Fleetwood Mac. McGrath loves to spend time with friends, take walks, and be creative. Maeve is so excited to be a part of the Prowler team!
