The wildcat cross-country team participated in the Alleghany Shenandoah Quad in Covington on Sep. 24. The girls team finished third out of four teams, and the boys won their race.
Freshman Reagan Imler finished third in the girls 5k with a time of 20:51, followed by senior Evelyn McClung in seventh with a time of 23:11 and Senior Dorothy Lewis in eighth finishing with a time of 23:12
“It’s a pretty flat course and the weather was nice and cool, so the team had a solid amount of PR’s. It was really cool to get to meet the people in our new district, and I think our team ran some really strong races,” Lewis said.
Sophomore Leif Guse came in first place in the boys 5k with a PR of 17:06, closely followed by sophomore Grant Swenty in fourth with a time of 17:30 and junior Tyler Ludtke with a time of 17:31.
“The first two miles felt good, I kept pace behind my teammate. Last mile, I tried to stay relaxed, push harder, and take the lead,” said Guse.
Coming off of the win, the ‘Cats have a home meet at Natural Bridge on Oct. 1.
