On Saturday, Oct. 4th, the cross country teams competed at Greenhill Park in the state preview race. The boys team placed 2nd out of 27 teams. Leading the way for the ‘Cats was junior Tyler Ludtke, placing 16th overall with a time of 16:21.80. Second on the team was Sophomore Leif Guse, placing 18th overall with a time of 16:27.50.
“I’m very proud of our team; we had a really good race as a team, and I’m pleased with my performance,” Guse said.
Almost the whole team set personal records as a result of the flat and grassy course.
“The course was very flat and very grassy. We had to cross the road twice. The course was not crowded and didn’t have tight turns,” said Oscar McClung.
For the girls, freshman Reagan Imler led the team, placing 16th overall with a time of 20:23.70. Second on the team was senior Evenlyn McClung, placing 52nd overall with a time of 22:14.60. The girls team had only four runners on Saturday, so they couldn’t be scored as a team.
The cross country team had a great race overall, and will continue to succeed in their races to come. The next race for the ‘Cats will be on Oct. 8th at Buffalo Gap.
