On Monday, Sept. 29, the Wildcats golf team competed in the regional championship. The team placed 5th out of eight teams at the 3A Region C championship: Western Albemore, Liberty Christian Academy, Monechelo, Turner Ashby, Waynesboro, Rusburg, and Spotswood.
Harrison Tanner shot a 78, followed by Dean Fafatas, who shot 80, Joe Vargas with an 83, Davis Welsh with an 87, Parker Flint with an 88, and Finbar Looney with 90.
The match was held at Spotswood Country Club, a private course.
“The course wasn’t too challenging apart from a few tricky holes here and there; it only had water on one hole, but the team didn’t have its best round,” Vargas said.
This match was the last of the season. While the last match wasn’t as successful as the rest, overall, it was a very successful season, as the team won three district matches and were the district champions.
